FUNCTIONS OF VARIOUS SEMIOTIC RESOURCES IN A LITERARY TEXT (BASED ON THE MATERIAL OF M. HADDON’S NOVEL “THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME”)

Abstract. This article focuses on the problem of functions performed by semiotic resources in a multimodal literary text. Semiotically heterogeneous components in a multimodal text form a single whole and have a complex effect on the addressee; nonverbal components are an organic part of the text that does not interfere with its perception by the reader. The functions of various semiotic resources in Mark Haddon’s novel “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” are analyzed.
